Sportac is run as a non-profit making limited company, with charitable status.

There are so many people who volunteer at Sportac who work relentlessly to ensure the gymnasts work and learn in a happy, safe and healthy environment.  A huge thank you to them all - including the 'boilerman' who keeps Sportac up and running.

The fees paid by the gymnasts go towards the general bills for the gym but Sportac are constantly fundraising so that the gymnasts have the best possible facilities to train in.  Repair work to the building and re-carpeting are just some of the ongoing projects.

RECENT GRANTS

Our main project of Autum 2009 was to replace the large windows in the main gym. We were very lucky to receive a grant to cover the cost of this, from Thames Community Foundation Grassroots Grants. The new windows have improved the light and warmth in the gym, and look so much better than the broken windows we used to have.

Here are a few of our Saturday gymnasts, showing 2 of the 6 bays of new windows. You can see the difference it makes to the gym! Thank you to the Thames Community Foundation for making this project possible.

AWARDS FOR ALL/NATIONAL LOTTERY

Our new gym carpets which arrived in July 2009, are funded by the National Lottery through the AwardsforAll.

The spectator chairs were very much in need of refurbishing and Sportac thanks BAA Environment Award Scheme 2009 for their grant of £300.  Some of the old wooden chairs have now been replaced and the spectators can sit in comfort!

PEEPs

One of the main projects of 2008 was to repair the leaking roof and a very big thankyou to the Hounslow Youth Opportunity Fund who gave Sportac a grant of £12,600 to carry out this work.

DENEBANK PRECISION ENGINEERING

Sportac thanks this Company who very kindly donated equipment, which was used for new lighting in the gym.

THE JACK PETCHEY AWARD SCHEME:  See the Jack Petchey Award page .

SPORTAC FUNDRAISING

A big thank you to Tania who donated £300 for new weights and weight bars for the gymnasts.

A big thank you to Karen who donated £300 to the fund for replacement spectators chairs.

Reclaimed Gift Aid has acquired a further £500 for training volunteers in first aid and child protection procedures.

If you shop online, why not shop through www.easyfundraising.org.uk the site is free to use and makes money for Sportac.  Click on find a cause, type in Sportac Acrobatic Gymnastics club, click on the name and follow the screen for instructions.

In the summer of 2008 Sportac held a disco and an awards evening, which was a great success.  thank you to the organisers and helpers who put in their hard work and time to make it such a success.  £200 was raised which goes towards the carpet fund.  Pictures of the gymnasts with their awards can be seen in the Photo Album.

At Christmas a disco was organised raising £50, used for much needed redecoration.

Another way funds were raised was through the 'smartie tube' - thank you to all the gymnasts who returned their smartie tubes, with £555 raised towards insulation and ceiling fund.

A big thank you to the 'tuck shop ladies' who organise and run the tuck shop two nights a week, every week.  This has helped raise funds for:
The main front carpet area.
Re-upholstering furniture.
Weights and medicine balls.
A new hoover.
Curtain for the small gym area.

Are there any more members who would like to volunteer, or do you have any skills that we can use at Sportac - Please don't be shy!

If any members have any further contacts, suggestions or ideas we would love to hear them so please email Karen or speak to a coach at the gym.
